When Arnold Palmer went over to St. Andrews to play in the 1960 British Open, he shot a pitiful 47 on the first nine of his practice round with Roberto De Vicenzo and Max Faulkner.  HE finsihed the round with an embarrassing total of 86.  But when it really counted, Arnie shook off his awful proactice round in the tourney and fired a 279, placing him second to Kel Nagle, the winner.
